For this second season of “The Invisible Playlist,” Paul Lucas is pleased to welcome Nicolas Saada.
A filmmaker and screenwriter, he also created the radio program “Nova fait son cinéma” (1993–2007), a landmark nighttime broadcast that illuminated the FM dial with music and rare film excerpts, often spanning the United States, Italy, and Asia. Writing, cinema, and music are in constant dialogue throughout his career: a journalist for Les Cahiers du Cinéma between 1988 and 2000, he also wrote screenplays for Pierre Salvadori and Arnaud Desplechin, directed several short films, and three feature films: Espions (2009), Taj Mahal (2015), and Danger (2025).

There are those we have scribbled on pieces of paper full of corrections, those that follow us throughout our lives, crossing eras and their countless formats, those that real humans craft, and all those that machines take great pleasure in concocting, forming an ocean of proposals impossible to calm.

Today, playlists are everywhere: on our phones, on platforms, on the radio, in bars and cafes, in the metro, in taxis, and even in our beds. Amid this overabundance, a few questions remain: where can we find uniqueness away from algorithms? How can we create genuine collisions?
