Singer, songwriter, composer, actress, and director, Elli Medeiros left a lasting impression with her distinctive style and the sense of fantasy that radiated from her presence. Recently celebrated by Simon Porte Jacquemus during his latest Paris fashion show, she has long moved against the current, mocking trends and most often avoiding them altogether. She famously pinned together torn clothing with safety pins and wore her stepfather’s hole-ridden sweaters before such styles became fashionable, later playfully choosing to wear pristine vintage pieces when deconstruction and deliberate wear-and-tear became the trend.

Elli Medeiros first emerged on the punk scene as a member of Stinky Toys from 1976 to 1979, before forming a duo with Jacno from 1979 to 1984 and later pursuing a solo career. Toi mon toit, one of her songs released in 1986, remains a timeless hit, whose chorus, along with its music video, continues to linger in our minds.

“Exquis” is a series of meetings conceived and hosted by Marie Ottavi. Designed as a conversation dedicated to fashion, each edition brings together a guest from cinema, music, contemporary art, literature, architecture, and more. The interview takes place at the heart of CRAVAN and explores each guest’s personal sartorial journey, offering their perspective and reflecting on different eras. “Exquis” views fashion as a space for dialogue and reflection, and clothing as a meeting point between various disciplines, ideas, and sensibilities.
