For this new Special Editions conversation, Luca Marchetti welcomes Vanessa Clairet Stern and Raphaëlle Pinoncely — two key figures in the ecosystem that has grown around the Perrotin gallery.

The former, after a career spanning contemporary art and luxury, now oversees Perrotin’s global communications and development. The latter has been leading Perrotin Éditions for over ten years, publishing catalogues, monographs, and art objects in close collaboration with the gallery’s artists.

Together, Vanessa and Raphaëlle share the editorial story of a pioneering institution in the cultural and economic models of contemporary art. By extending artworks beyond the exhibition space — through books, prints, and multiples — Perrotin’s “Special Editions” spark reflection and debate on the hybridization between artwork and product, challenging the very notion of value.

From Paris to Tokyo, Miami to Seoul, such a vision requires a delicate balance between artistic rigor and a genuine desire to share. A conversation delving into the behind-the-scenes world of art publishing — at the crossroads of strategy, innovation, and creation.

Special Editions is a series of events dedicated to objects and books. At the intersection of design and publishing, Special Editions questions the status of works and objects that occupy a special place in the lives of creatives, authors.

Is there a story behind the object? What is the personal narrative, the emotion, the feeling behind the words, the lines, the forms? What does the book say about its author? What does the object say about the person who created it? And what, in turn, do the creator say about their object and the author about their book? What else do they say about those who collect them, appreciate them? To find out, Luca Marchetti proposes through Special Editions a series of meetings for those who love slow time and intimate correspondences. The object is at the service of meaning in a conversation of another kind, at once escape, experience, entertainment and communion.
